HOUSTON -

Given the extreme drought southeast Texas residents suffered through last year and the periodic dry spells earlier this spring and summer, it seems odd to think that many of people are ready for some drier weather ahead.

Indeed, it's been a crazy couple of weeks with flooding rains, lightning, and a little hail sprinkled on top of it all.

Mother Nature's rewarding the area with a respite from the rain this weekend. High pressure will take over control of the weather pattern, which means hotter and drier days ahead.  Each day between Thursday and Saturday, look for the afternoon showers and thunderstorms to become more and more sparse.

Highs over the weekend will climb to the mid and upper 90s. Given the amount of moisture left over from the rain, expect the weekend to be extra steamy, too. So take it easy when you're outside, keep the sunscreen and bug spray at hand, and have a great weekend!
