Hasti Taghi joined KPRC Local 2 as a reporter in November 2009.

She started her career at KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Before that, she was part of Texas Newswatch, The Longhorn Pulse and KVR News while she attended the University of Texas. She also held internships at KXAN-TV and News8Austin in Austin.

Hasti is no stranger to Houston. She moved to the city when she was 10 years old.

"I call Houston home and couldn't be happier to be here reporting for my community," Hasti said.

She has a degree in broadcast journalism with a concentration on government.

Hasti enjoys getting to know new people and sharing their stories. She's also had some strange experiences.

"One time during a live shot, an angry protestor started charging toward me, waving his sign and yelling at me to be quiet," she said. "I thought he was going to beat me up! It was so difficult to hold my composure, but someone came to my rescue and held him back while I finished my report."

In her free time, Hasti enjoys reading a good book while sipping a cup of hot tea. She likes all sorts of books, particularly anything that she can't wait to crack open at the end of a long day. Even when she's off the clock, she keeps up-to-date with what's happening around the world by browsing CNN.com

"It's always good to know what's going on around the world even when I'm away from the newsroom," she said.

She uses yoga, tennis and time with family and friends to get through stressful times.
