HOUSTON -

A Houston police officer who has been in trouble in the past has been relieved of duty while internal affairs investigators probe new allegations of improper conduct.

Veronica Salmeron made news around the the world last fall after another officer allegedly used a Taser gun to stop her from thrashing his house and car.

She is now under investigation for allegedly posting pictures of herself posing with gang members online.

Houston police confirm Salmeron, 26, was relieved of duty with pay Aug. 8, pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation into what a department spokesman called "conduct allegations."

Sources told KPRC Local 2 that Salmeron was relieved after she posted photographs of herself on her Facebook page posing with members of Texas largest prison gang, Tango Blast Houstone.

Both the photos and Salmeron's Facebook page have apparently been taken down.

Salmeron was not available for comment on Friday. Her police union attorney wasn't available either.

Last November, Salmeron was arrested and charged with criminal mischief. According to court documents, Salmeron went to the home of Officer Sergio Garza, her former boyfriend, and smashed out windows in his house and car before locking herself in a bathroom.

Garza allegedly used his Taser gun to subdue her.

The case never went to trial. The misdemeanor criminal mischief charge against Salmeron was dismissed last February, but she received a 30-day suspension from HPD.

This time Salmeron could be in danger of losing her job if the internal affairs investigation finds that she violated police policy.

Salmeron joined HPD in June 2009. She works in the North Patrol Division.
