A man has been accused of killing a woman in 2011.

Jonathan David Stephens, 26, has been charged with murder.

Houston police said Rachel Burrell, 24, was found dead in a shallow ditch in the 600 block of Altic in southwest Houston about 7:30 a.m. on March 18.

Investigators said Burrell had been strangled and suffered blunt force trauma.

Police said evidence at the scene was entered into the Combined DNA Index System, and Stephens came up as a match.

Stephens was arrested and confessed to killing Burrell, police said.
