A Houston police officer shot a man who was pointing a gun into passing cars along Blue Ridge Road Tuesday night.

Police said at around 6:20 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a man who said someone pointed a gun at him and his family. Officers found a suspect matching the description given walking down Blue Ridge Road near West Fuqua and told him to drop his weapons.

The suspect ignored the officer and kept walking and pointed his gun at a passing car. The officer shot twice at the suspect. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
