Lamborghini driver injures 3 people

HOUSTON -

A man driving a brand new Lamborghini accidentally drove into people walking in an Uptown Park parking lot, injuring two pedestrians and hitting another car, police said Monday.

The 2012 Lamborghini Aventador crashed into two people and a parked car outside the Belvedere night club on the West Loop at 2 a.m.

Houston police said the driver told them he lost control of his one-week-old sports car because he did not realize it was so powerful.

"It was real bad because he busted his windshield, busted a Mercedes. He hit two people. One guy went up in the air," witness Rod Blackshear said.

The two pedestrians and a person in the Mercedes were taken to a hospital, but they are expected to be OK.

Investigators said the driver was not taken into custody because he was not intoxicated.

The sports car can travel up to 200 mph. It was purchased from a dealership in Chicago.
