HPD: East Houston store owner fires gun in attempted robbery

HOUSTON -

The owner of an East Houston smoke shop fired his gun at three men trying to rob him, according to authorities.

Police said the crime happened at the Northshore Video and Smoke Shop, 12915 Interstate 10, around 5 p.m. Monday.

The owner said three men came rushing into his store demanding money, police said. The man told officers that he was so scared, he grabbed his gun and fired at the suspects.

Police and SWAT officers surrounded the building. After a few hours, they determined no one was inside.

Investigators said they reviewing surveillance footage to see if the attempted robbery was caught on camera.
