HPD: Drug Deal Sparks Police Chase

HOUSTON -

A suspected drug deal sparked a police chase around north Houston on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Houston police said officers spotted the deal going down in the area of the North Loop at Aldine Westfield about 2:30 p.m.

Investigators said they tried to stop the driver of a pickup truck , but he took off and led officers on a chase that lasted about 15 minutes.

The driver then went on Beltway 8, Highway 59 and side streets.

The driver pulled over and surrendered to officers at 2:55 p.m. on Homestead Road at Hermann Road in northeast Houston, police said.

The driver who was the only person in the vehicle. Detectives said he had two pounds of crystal meth.

Police have not released the driver's name or said what charges he may face.

No injuries were reported.
