HOUSTON -

Houston police said surveillance cameras at a gas station may help them track down three men wanted in connection with an intentional hit and run in north Houston.

Emergency crews were called to an Exxon station on Cavalcade Street and the North Freeway Feeder Road around 4:15 a.m. Friday.

Police said a man who had just bought cigarettes was outside of the store when he was confronted by three people, who claimed he stole something from their truck. Detectives said that turned out not to be true.

As the victim was walking away from the suspects, they drove their truck towards him, officials said. The victim was hit and dragged several feet before the suspects drove off, according to police.

Emergency crews said the victim was conscious and alert as he was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital downtown. He was listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said surveillance cameras at the gas station may help them track down the three suspects, who were in a black truck. Witnesses said the suspects may have been intoxicated.
