A man has been accused of hurting his son because the child put his slippers on the wrong feet.
Jonathan Walker, 26, has been charged with injury to a child.
Houston police said Walker's 8-year-old son was taken to Texas Children's Hospital on Oct. 1. Doctors said the boy suffered a bruised and swollen eye, belt marks, extension cord marks, possible cigarette burns and other injuries that were in multiple stages of healing.
According to court documents, the boy told police that his father had hit him with a belt and punched him in the face that morning because he was wearing his slippers on the wrong feet.
Police said Walker admitted to hitting his son that morning and in the past. Investigators said Walker told them that the beatings he gave his son were not as bad as the ones he received when he was a child.
Walker is being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $30,000.
