A Houston Independent School District police officer was hit by a driver while he directed traffic on Monday.
School district officials said a parent was pulling out of the parking lot of Westside High School on Briar Forest near Valedictorian about 8 a.m. and bumped the officer.
The parent said he did not know that he hit anyone until someone jumped in the back of his pickup truck.
The officer was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but officials said he was expected to be OK.
The driver was cited.
