HCSO: Man, woman beat child for phone
Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding two people accused of attacking a boy for his phone.
The 11-year-old boy was robbed on Jan. 22 in a parking lot near the 13600 block of Richmond, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies said he was approached by both a female and male suspect. The male asked the boy if he could borrow his cellphone. The boy explained that the phone was inoperable and began to walk away. Investigators said that's when the male suspect hit him on the head, causing the child to fall to the ground.
The female suspect then jumped atop the victim, and began violently pistol-whipping him, authorities said.
Investigators said the man took the victim’s cellphone, and both fled the scene on foot.
Surveillance cameras inside a nearby convenience store captured still photos of the male suspect in the case.
The male suspect is described as black, between 16 to 19 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 140 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a white pattern and black shorts, investigators said.
A detailed description of the female suspect has not been released.
