HOUSTON -

Deputies are searching for a man who fired a warning shot during a robbery at a west Harris County smoke shop.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said a man walked into the store in the 2100 block of Fry Road about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 19. The man pretended to shop for about 30 minutes and then pulled out a gun and fired a shot in the air, investigators said.

The man then demanded cash from the register, officials said. The clerk put an undisclosed amount of cash into a black bag, investigators said.

The man forced the store clerk to tie himself up and then he left the store on foot, detectives said.

The robber was described as Hispanic, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, tan shorts, black tennis shoes and a black baseball cap with a star embroidered on it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
