Two armed men pretended to be police officers when they robbed a couple at a southwest Harris County home on Tuesday, and investigators said two young children witnessed it all.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said the attack happened in the 13700 block of River Kegg, in the Kingspoint subdivision, about 6 a.m.
The woman who lives in the home said she had just walked out of the house with her two young children to take them to school when the men rushed up to them and told them to go back inside.
The robbers tied up the woman and her husband with plastic tie wraps, ransacked the home and stole property and cash, investigators said. The husband was hit a few times, officials said.
The woman said the children, ages 4 and 6, cried during the attack, but the men did not hurt them.
Investigators said the attack lasted nearly four hours.
The robbers were described as black, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing dark-colored clothing, baseball caps and badges around their necks. "Security" was written on one of the shirts, officials said.
The men left in either an Acura or a Honda Civic.
Deputies said the house has security cameras, so they are reviewing the videos to try to identify the men.
Investigators have not said if the couple was targeted or if it was a random attack. The husband runs a business buying and selling cars.
Detectives said they don't know of any similar robberies in the area.
