HCSO: Driver blames dad for hit-and-run
Orpeza Concepcion charged with failure to stop, render aid
A man has been accused of blaming his father for a hit-and-run he committed.
Orpeza Concepcion, 27, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said Conception crashed a Ford F-150 pickup truck into another vehicle in the 12200 block of F.M. 529 on Sept. 22.
Conception didn't stop, investigators said. The victim was only able to give police a description of the pickup truck and a very vague description of the driver, officials said.
The pickup truck was found abandoned about four blocks away, investigators said. Residents in the area started calling the sheriff's office because they saw a man running through back yards and jumping over fences.
Deputies traced the pickup truck back to Conception. They said a neighbor told them that Conception had left his home in a pickup truck about 20 minutes before the crash occurred.
Investigators said Conception called them the next day and he told them that his father was driving the pickup truck the day before, during the crash. He also requested to get the pickup truck back, officials said. Deputies said they then went to Conception's home, where he admitted that he was driving. He said he left the scene because he was afraid he was going to go to jail, investigators said.
