HOUSTON -

Two roommates got into an argument in a northwest Harris County home with deadly results, deputies said.

Officials said the victim and his roommate were arguing in their home in the 5300 block of Grand Forest Drive near Keith Harrow Boulevard around 4 a.m. Investigators said the fight escalated and shots were fired.

Myron Meinte was arrested and taken in for questioning, deputies said.

Neighbors said they thought they heard firecrackers, but had no idea anyone was hurt until the deputies arrived.

"To hear that someone was shot and hear that he was possibly involved, I am just in a total state of shock," said Gilbert Hopkins, a neighbor.

Investigators said the case was being referred to a grand jury without charges.

The victim's name was not released.
