Gun store owner receives death threat
Jim Pruett says he turned letter over to Harris County Sheriff's Office
A popular Houston gun shop owner says he was the target of a death threat.
Local 2 has learned gun shop owner Jim Pruett received a letter Saturday, threatening his life as well as those of his family and employees.
Pruett has been in the news recently to share his views on gun ownership and gun control in the wake of the tragedy in Connecticut.
The letter is believed to have been sent from north Houston on December 20th. In the letter, the author claims to be a former Marine.
"Live by the gun. Die by the gun. You will not live to see Easter," the author wrote.
"It's time we stopped arming the Mexican drug lords and you've been chosen as the example of what will happen if business as usual continues in southeast Texas,” the letter reads.
Pruett told local 2 he turned the letter over to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, and believes it will be forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security for further review.
