Gas price war in Cypress

HOUSTON -

Two northwest Houston gas stations launched a gas price war Wednesday.

On West Little York and Fry Road in Cypress, a Kroger and Walmart went head-to-head with lower prices.

The Walmart recently opened a Murphy gas station and it is competing for customers by giving them lower gas prices.

Customers at both stores can pump out regular gas for $3.14 a gallon, and that's before any credit discounts.

For customers who use the Walmart card, the price drops to $3.09.

For those who use the Kroger fuel program, 10 cents are dropped for every 100 points.

Meanwhile, the average price for gas in Houston is $3.48, it's $3.50 across Texas, and the national average is at $3.58.
