Part of the University of Houston's main campus was shut off Wednesday because of a gas leak.

University officials said vehicular and foot traffic was restricted at Entrance 14 on Cullen Boulevard.

Classes and university operations were not affected.

CenterPoint Energy crews were at the university to make repairs. Officials said it appeared the leak was caused by a waste bin hitting a gas valve.
