Garbage truck catches fire
Lanes on Beltway 8 eastbound at Almeda closed

A garbage truck caught fire Wednesday, shutting down part of Beltway 8 in southeast Houston.
Investigators said the crash happened in the eastbound feeder road of Beltway 8 at Almeda at 6:30 a.m.
Officials said everything in the garbage truck had to be dumped on the side of the feeder road in order to extinguish the fire.
All but one lane was closed to traffic until the scene could be cleared.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
