A former official with the Red River Army Depot has pleaded guilty to accepting a bribe for awarding a contract worth more than $600,000.
Court records show Thorton Wesley Owen pleaded guilty Tuesday to accepting an $11,000 bribe in exchange for a painting contract. The Texarkana Gazette reports (http://is.gd/RFYQR9 ) that Owen faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Prosecutors claim that Owen accepted the bribe and awarded a painting contract to a Texarkana company. A second defendant, Henry Pearson, was indicted on suspicion of bribery of a public official. That case is still pending.
A sentencing date has not yet been set for Owen.
