Five sisters were robbed at gunpoint at Stuebner-Airline Park Tuesday.
The women were sitting at picnic tables at the park in the 9300 block of Veterans Memorial near West Mount Houston.
The sisters said the thief approached them while they were talking over coffee.
"I turned around and there was a guy behind me with a gun in his hand," said Sandra Mancera.
The youngest victim was just two years old. Mancera said she knew the man was serious when he turned the gun on her young nephew.
"He put the gun on my nephew, so we had to give him everything," said Mancera.
Between the five sisters, the robber got away with thousands of dollars in cash, their wallets, cell phones and identification before running off into nearby woods.
Mancera said her family comes to the park often, and this was her first time she has been in danger there.
"We was alone in the park," Mancera said. "You don't think about someone coming and robbing you."
The Houston police were called and are investigating. The suspect was described as a tall and thin black male between 20 and 25-years-old.
The women said he didn't have his face covered and that he appeared young and nervous.
