A fire broke out at an ice rink Friday morning.

The fire started in an electrical room at the Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center, 16225 Lexington Blvd. in Sugar Land about 10:30 a.m.

The building was evacuated, but officials said there were only a few people in the lobby at the time the fire began.

Officials said a transformer malfunction caused the fire.

According to the center's website, the center will be closed until further notice.
