Feb. 5: TSU tumultuous times over?
The tumultuous times at Texas Southern University appear to be over. TSU's 11th president, Dr. John Rudley, has made sweeping changes in the three years he's been at the helm, with more to come. In advance of next week's groundbreaking on the schools state-of-the-art science and technology building, Dr. Rudley talks about the hurdles faced getting to this point and the challenges still ahead to take the nation's third largest historically black university to a level of excellence.
A student from the University's Urban Achievement Village also talks about how this newly created program it has changed his college life.
The Port of Houston has a new Interim Executive Director. Col. Leonard Waterworth stops by to talk about the challenges he expects as he takes the helm of one of the largest ports in the world, responsible for more that 700,000 direct or indirect jobs in the Houston area. The Port of Houston generates an economic impact of more than $100 billion to the Texas region. Waterworth reveals his plans for the port's future and how he plans to deal with port politics.
Our political science professors are here to handicap the GOP race for the presidential nomination and provide an update on the confusing mess that is redistricting in Texas.
Those topics and more are discussed on this week's Beyond the Headlines with host Khambrel Marshall.
