HOUSTON -

U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R- Texas), who represents the state's 8th Congressional District, joins Khambrel on this week's Houston Newsmakers and says he thinks the sequester is a good thing for the country.  About $85 billion is scheduled to be eliminated from this year's budget on March 1. You'll hear what areas should not be affected. He also talks about the challenges being faced in the 113th Congress. Brady is the chairman of the Joint Economic Committee in the House that advises President Barack Obama on economic policies to boost jobs.  Khambrel also asks why, according to recent polls, Brady and his congressional colleagues are so disliked and what it will take to improve his approval rating. Look for his interesting reaction!

East End Also this week, the rapidly-changing East End of Houston and the role that community is playing in elevating our city's status in the United States and the world.  Joining Khambrel to talk about the recent success of the East End's involvement in the NBA All-Star Weekend are Frances Castaneda Dyess, president of the East End Chamber of Commerce and Patrick Ezzell, the director of Planning and Infrastructure for the Greater East End Management District. BBVA Compass Stadium, Discovery Green, the George R. Brown Convention Center and Minute Maid Park are some of the visible landmarks related to the East End, but there are many more areas that make up this historic and vibrant community. A major facelift is under way and the latest plans for improving the area are discussed.

It's a very interesting and informative half hour! Watch Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall Sunday at 10 a.m., right after Meet the Press with David Gregory.
