Less than 24 hours after a man fell 60 feet from an escalator at Reliant Stadium and died, hundreds of high school fans crowded inside.
They were there to watch Friday night football action between Klein and Katy high schools.
In the wake of Thursday's accident, parents said it's a great time to talk to kids about safety.
"It's horrible, terribly sad," said Fred Calhoun. " But it's a lesson for these kids when we say 'stay off the railing,' there's a reason why."
It's still unclear what caused Jonathan Kelly to fall over the side of the escalator, but initial reports indicate he may have been trying to slide down the handrail.
The general manager of the stadium, Mark Miller, said the escalators will be inspected.
"Basically we're going to make sure the other equipment is working," he said. "It's going to be shut down and put out of service until the technicians have gone through everything and inspected everything."
Parents at Friday night's game thought it was the responsible thing to do.
"That's what you'd expect in a large venue like this," said Lisa Wells. "At least check the safety of the equipment that the public is on and around."
