Family of 9 escapes burning home
Homeowner says they lost everything in the fire
A family of nine managed to escape a house fire in northeast Harris County.
The Atascocita Fire Department responded to a fire around 11:45 p.m. on Friday and found heavy flames coming from a one-story brick home at Cormorant Court and Muscory Drive. They quickly extinguished the flames.
There were nine people home at the time of the fire--a mother, father, and seven children ranging in age from 2 to 18.
According to the fire department and the homeowner, the mother had put clothes in the dryer, which caught fire. When she opened the door, she said it flared up and the family ran out of the house.
Everyone got out safely, but the homeowner said they lost everything in the fire.
No one was injured in the blaze.
