Pasadena police are searching for a man accused of stealing thousands of dollars from a small business.
Police said the man walked into JuJu's Beachwear along East Nasa Parkway on July 12 and pretended to be a roofer. He told the owner he had been sent by the property owners to check for leaks in the roof because of heavy rain.
The man said he needed to take pictures. The owner let the man in the store. He left with a trash can that she thought was filled with tile. He said he would be back, but he never returned.
"I just left him to do his thing. While he was back there, he went into my office, took my purse put it in a trashcan. He put a ceiling tile on top of it and walked right out," store owner, JuJu DeBusk said.
Her purse along with the money the store had earned for the day were gone.
"It would be great if someone could catch him. He was so convincing. There is no way he hasn't done this to someone else," said DeBusk.
Surveillance cameras snapped a picture of him. He was described as a Hispanic, 40 to 45 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and about 225 pounds with black wavy hair and a full mustache. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
