FBSO: Boy, 14, confesses to 2 attempted carjackings
Boy, 14, accused in 2 attempted carjackings
A teenager confessed Thursday to two armed attempted carjackings, officials said.
Charlie Garza, 68, said he was on his way to work and at a stoplight on Highway 90 at FM 359 in Fort Bend County at 4 a.m. when a grey pickup truck pulled up beside him.
Garza said the truck's passenger got out and approached him with a gun.
"When I saw the gun, I took off," Garza said.
The suspects followed him and began firing at him, Garza said.
"They kept following me on 90 and kept shooting at me again," he said. "Then, they went ahead of me toward Richmond and shot at me again."
Garza finally lost the truck and pulled over to call 911.
Garza's car windows were shattered from the bullets. His hands and face were cut by glass.
"I didn't know what was going on. I don't have no enemies or anything," Garza said.
While dispatchers were on the phone with Garza, Fort Bend County sheriff's investigators said another attempted carjacking call came in from just down the street in Rosenberg.
Investigators said one suspect was caught -- a 14-year-old boy who confessed to being involved in both crimes. His name was not released.
