HOUSTON -

A disgraced former Galveston County district clerk has been sentenced to more than eight months behind bars in a domestic dispute.

Jason Murray resigned in April, four months after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his estranged wife after a party in Houston.

Investigators say Murray was sentenced to two years of deferred adjudication probation, then in June was arrested for allegedly not staying away from his wife as required. A plea deal reached Monday led to a 250-day jail term for Murray.

Murray, who was elected in November 2010, still faces intoxicated driving charges in Galveston County.
