Harris County prosecutors recently needed certain evidence in a case that happened in Nassau Bay, but police weren't able to find it.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office has launched an investigation into how evidence is handled at the Nassau Bay Police Department.
Nassau Bay City Manager Chris Reed said the city is not sure how widespread the problem is, but he said that one police officer has been suspended while they investigate irregularities in recordkeeping.
Sources told KPRC Local 2 that hundreds of pieces of evidence may be missing.
Leigh Anne Meeks' said her daughter is a crime victim. She said she has not gotten word if her daughter's case is affected, but she is concerned.
"I would hate to think what would happen to that case if that evidence was not there," Meeks said.
