HOUSTON -

An elementary school teacher has been arrested on child pornography charges.

Juan A. Villarreal, 52, a teacher at Anderson Elementary School, has been charged with distribution of child pornography.

According to the United State Attorney's Office, Villarreal was the target of an undercover operation being conducted by the Homeland Security Investigations' Beaumont Operation Safe-T-Net.

An undercover officer downloaded a movie online that showed a girl, believed to be 13 to 15 years old, and a boy, believed to be 11 to 13 years old, engaging in sexual acts, investigators said.

The officer partially downloaded two other videos from the same computer, officials said. According to court documents, they showed a girl, believed to be 8 to 10 years old, engaging in sexual acts with a man.

Detectives said the computer was traced to Villarreal's home.

Once investigators found out he was an elementary school teacher, they conducted surveillance at the school and the Houston Independent School District confirmed that he was a third-grade teacher there.

A search warrant was executed at Villarreal's home on Friday. Detectives said they seized several images of child pornography that were on a thumb drive inserted into a computer inside the home.

If convicted, Villarreal would face five to 20 years in prison plus a fine of up to $250,000.
