We know eating too much is unhealthy, but it may have another dangerous consequence for older people. It's now being linked to increased memory loss.
Mayo Clinic researchers in Scottsdale studied more than 1,200 people over the age of 70.
Those who consumed between 2,000 and 6,000 calories doubled their risk of mild cognitive impairment.
That's compared to those who ate less than 1,500 calories a day.
Calorie consumption in the study was a stronger predictor of memory loss than common risk factors like stroke, diabetes and education level.
