HOUSTON -

Crews are investigating what led to an oil spill at an east Harris County facility.

Hazmat crews are working to clean up what's left of the spill in the Highlands area.

Oil leaked from one of the pumps behind the ZXP Technologies facility on East Wallisville Road and Gossett Sunday.

The oil then spilled into a canal that runs into the San Jacinto River. The leak has stopped.

The heavy rain Saturday caused the canal to flow quickly, making it difficult to get the oil out of the water.

People who live in the area are concerned about the water quality.

Hazmat crews say there is no threat to the public.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the Harris County Pollution Control are investigating the cause of the spill.
