Police: Driver crashes into store to steal prescription drugs

HOUSTON -

A driver rammed into a Fiesta Mart in the Heights Thursday.

Houston police said someone made a sharp turn and slammed into the wall of the store at 1407 Studewood Street at East 14th about 4 a.m.

The van punched a hole precisely in the spot of where the store's pharmacy is located.

Detectives said three men got out of the van and scooped up drugs and cash. They then got back in the van and sped away, police said.

Authorities said they believed at least $2,000 and some medications were stolen.

Witnesses said it happened too quickly for them to get a license plate number.

The hole was patched up a few hours later.
