A driver who crashed his car into the roof of a house then flipped over and landed upside down on the roof of a neighboring home has been charged, investigators said.
Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables said Carlos Benjamin Larranaga, 23, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Detectives said Larranaga was speeding south on Addicks Satsuma Road failed to make a curve, drove through a field, hit an embankment and went airborne on Feb. 24.
"Used that to go airborne to strike the first house. It inverted and somersaulted, landed on the roof upside down," said Assistant Chief John Laine with Harris County Sheriff's Department.
Emergency crews rescued Larranaga and transported him to a hospital. Detectives said Larranaga's blood-alcohol level was .13. The legal limit in Texas is .08.
Investigators said a crane was needed to remove the car from the roof of the second house.
