A League City teacher has been arrested after being accused of having an improper relationship with a student.
Stephanie Raleen Forbes, 40, is charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student.
According to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office, deputies posted at the high school began an investigation into Forbes in December after receiving a tip that she had been involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a student.
Investigators said Forbes resigned her position as a teacher with Clear Creek Independent School District after officials there launched their administrative investigation into the accusations.
KPRC Local 2 went by Forbes' home in League City. Her father said she wasn't there. Her neighbor, Gabriel Bedo, said the allegations were alarming.
"It's a little bit disconcerting to see it happening," said Bedo. "I just hope that they will have a fair trial and they not differentiate between male and female."
