MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -

A man accused of attempting to abduct a store clerk from a gas station was arrested on Thursday, deputies said.

Jose A. Garcia, 50, of Conroe, was charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Montgomery County sheriff's deputies said Garcia targeted a clerk at the Valero Gas Station at 14587 FM 1485 near Old Houston Road on Dec. 9.

Investigators said Garcia forced the clerk outside by pulling her hair and then put her in a truck.

Police said the victim was able to escape, run back to the store and call for help.

Garcia has worked in construction, trucking and as an electrician and has a lengthy criminal history in Texas and other states dating back many years, investigators said.

He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $250,000 bond and an immigration hold, authorities said.

If anyone has information about Garcia, they should contact Detective Ken Bivens at 936-760-5876 during regular work hours or Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.
