Deputies: Man caught on video trying to rob store
Suspect left without cash
Raw Video: Robbery suspect in store
Surveillance cameras were rolling as a man tried to rob a north Harris County store and the video was released on Friday, investigators said.
According to employees, a man entered the store about an hour before the attempted robbery on the 5200 block of Aldine Mail Route near the Eastex freeway on Jan. 18 around noon.
The suspect, approximately 25 to 35 years old and between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, inquired about hair clippers, and left the store without making a purchase, deputies said.
Employees told investigators at approximately 1 p.m., the same man entered the store again and waited for the customers to leave before he approached the check-out counter.
The surveillance video shows the suspect placed a small brown bag and a knife on the counter and demanded the cash from the registers. Investigators said the suspect threatened to hurt the employee if she failed to comply with his demands.
The victim then grabbed a small electronic device from the counter and threatened the suspect with it, picked up his bag and knife and fled the scene on foot, with no cash, detectives said.
If you recognize the man in the video or have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or text TIP610 plus your tip to CRIMES (274637). You could earn a $5,000 cash reward and remain annonymous.
