One person died and several others were wounded after a head-on collision accident in Atascocita.
Deputies said the crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Saturday along FM 1960 near Artesian Road.
Investigators said the driver of a white pickup truck veered into the wrong lane of traffic.
"According to witnesses on the scene, veered into oncoming lanes and struck three other vehicles, hitting one of the vehicles head on," said Leo Anders with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the wrong-way driver was speeding when he lost control and first hit a minivan.
"There were no injuries to them, just damages to the vehicles," said Anders.
Deputy Anders said a jeep was also hit, causing it to roll over into a ditch.
"We have four people transported from the scene. Two by Life-flight, two by ambulance," said Anders.
At last check, all were in critical condition.
Deputies said the elderly man driving a gray truck didn't survive the head-on collision.
Investigators said they don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, only speed.
"The road conditions at the time were moderate traffic," Anders said. "We saw no obstruction in the roadways that would've caused the accident."
Investigators said at least one of those critically injured was a teenager.
