Dec. 4: Which nonprofits are worth your donations?
Dec. 4: Which charities to trust
The season of giving is also the season of charity solicitation. Hundreds of non profit organizations are right now trying to persuade you to donate. Many are fine charities that do great work in the community. But some are on the edge of failure because of their own incompetence.
How do you decide which ones to support? What are the red flags that will tell you which organizations to avoid?
Host Khambrel Marshall asks the experts the questions you would want to ask.
Anna Babin is the President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Houston and will talk about what the United Way looks for in worthwhile organizations.
Renee Wizig-Barrios is Vice President and Chief of Philanthropy for the Greater Houston Community Foundation, which through its donors gave more than $45 million to charities this year. She will provide insight into what clients should make sure to look for when deciding to donate.
Kate Yadan is the Director of Development for the Houston Arts Alliance and will talk about how it and other charitable organizations remain viable and attractive to donors.
Leah Napoliello is the Director of Investigative Services for the Better Business Bureau and will provide a road map for how you can investigate the charities that ask for your support.
