Dallas-area woman gets 30 days in jail for bribing judge in custody battle
A Dallas-area woman convicted of secretly financing a judge's 2008 campaign in a custody fight has been sentenced to 30 days in jail.
A judge in McKinney on Thursday sentenced Stacy Stine Cary of University Park. Cary also must serve 10 years of probation and pay a $10,000 fine.
A jury in June convicted Cary of engaging in organized crime, money laundering and six counts of bribery.
The Dallas Morning News reports Cary was convicted of funneling about $150,000 to the campaign of Judge Suzanne Wooten. Prosecutors say Cary and her husband wanted a new judging presiding over a child custody case with his ex-wife.
Wooten, who resigned last fall, was convicted of accepting bribes and sentenced to 10 years of probation.
