An elderly couple was tied up in their west Harris County home by four men who broke into their house.
Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables said the attack happened on the 19000 block of Sommerset Way about 11 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said the men forced their way into the home through a side door.
The wife was home alone and her husband later walked in on the robbery, detectives said.
"Then the male resident entered the house, he was faced with a nickle-plated handgun," Assistant Chief Terry Thurman said.
After tying up the couple with telephone cords and shoelaces, the thieves stole an assault rifle, an antique firearm and money, detectives said.
They fled the scene in newer-model white SUV, officials said.
A neighbor said the elderly woman who lives in the home was taken to the hospital and appeared to be extremely distraught.
