Couple accused of torturing animals for fetish
Ashley Richards, Brent Wayne Justice charged with cruelty to animals
A couple has been accused of torturing animals to make videos for a sexual fetish.
Ashley Richards, 21, and Brent Wayne Justice, 51, have been charged with cruelty to animals.
The two have been accused of making "crush videos," which are real depictions of animals being tortured or killed.
"Ms. Richards states that she made these videos at the request of customers … to satisfy sexual fetishes," Assistant Harris County District Attorney Belinda Smith said.
In one video, Richards allegedly tortured a pit bull puppy with a meat cleaver and knife before killing it, investigators said.
Detectives said that in another, Richards wore a pair of stiletto heels to stomp a cat to death.
Justice allegedly ran the camera.
The two were allegedly selling the videos online.
The case was sparked by a tip from People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals. That organization figured out that the videos were made in Houston, and that led police to Richards and Justice.
When the two went before a magistrate judge after their arrest, the judge stopped the prosecutor from reading the details of the case because of their graphic nature.
