Consumers app Happy, but don't use them much
Researchers say Americans appetite for apps continues to grow
American consumers love apps for their smartphones and tablets, but few people use them on a regular basis, according to a Pew Researcher Center study.
It is just one of the interesting statistics that is part of the Center's "Internet & American Life Project."
They found 42 Percent of smart phone users have had phones with apps.
Of those, just 68 percent said they use 5 or more apps a week.
Then, researchers looked at app extremes.: 17 percent of users reported using no apps on a regular basis.
Meantime, 31 percent could be called app "power users" using 6 or more apps on a weekly basis.
About half of app downloaders, 46 percent, said they have not paid for one app they downloaded.
Pew researchers said, the share of adult cell phone owners who have downloaded an app to their phone nearly doubled in the past two years - rising from 22 percent in 2009 to 38 percent in 2011.
App downloading on cell phones remained concentrated among young adults, those people with higher incomes and education levels, and those living in urban and suburban areas.
