Cigarette thief caught on camera
Thief steals $4,000 worth of cigarettes
Cigarette thief targets gas station twice
Surveillance cameras caught a man breaking into a Montgomery County gas station to steal thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes.
Surveillance video recorded both break-ins at the Valero gas station on Robinson Road in Oak Ridge North on Dec. 24 and 28.
In the video of the first break-in, the thief used a brick to break through the front doors.
After shattering the glass, the masked thief crawled into the store and took a trash bag full of cigarette cartons.
Ninety seconds later, he slid out the same way he came in.
Police believe the thief is reselling the cigarettes.
"He's just going after things he can get money for," said Mike Walker, a customer.
In the second break-in, the thief wore a checkered jacket; in the first break in, he was wearing all black.
Two break-ins over four days scares many who frequent the gas station.
"It's just crazy now what people are doing with the economy now and everything," said Mike Henry, a customer.
The thief made off with $4,000 worth of cigarettes in the two burglaries.
Police said the thief drives a older model, white Ford F150 or Ranger pickup truck.
The owners of the gas station said it cost them $4,000 total to replace the front doors.
