A woman and child walking on a sidewalk were hit by a car in southeast Houston on Monday.
Houston police said a car and pickup truck collided at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Thrush Drive about 1 p.m.
Police said the black car was traveling north on MLK while the pickup truck was heading south on Thrush.
The impact of the collision forced the car to swerve off the road, police said. It hit a woman and a child who were on a sidewalk, investigators said.
The mother and child were rushed to a Memorial Hermann hospital. The child later died.
Witnesses described the child as being a baby boy and said they saw people giving him CPR. At last check, the mother was in stable condition.
The drivers involved in the collision were not seriously hurt.
Police said neither of the drivers were issued citations. The driver of the pickup truck is not facing charges at this time, police said.
