A man who led police on a chase in northeast Houston is on the loose.

The chase began around 2:15 a.m. Thursday when police tried to pull over a Dodge Caravan with stolen plates on the North Loop and Wayside.

Police said during the chase, the driver lost control and attempted to make a sharp right-hand turn on Normandy Street and La Rochelle Drive.

The driver crashed into a rod fence around an apartment complex, investigators said.

According to officials, the fleeing suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

Deputies and K-9 units searched the area, but the man was not found.
