HOUSTON -

After traveling about 1,600 miles from Houston to New Jersey, CenterPoint Energy crews spent Thursday restoring power to Superstorm Sandy victims.

Residents waiting for their power to come back on waved to the crews as the trucks pulled into neighborhoods.

"This is just tragic for everybody, so everybody is just trying to get together and put things together. That's all you can do," Atlantic City resident Brian Thomas said.

Residents in Atlantic City have been in the dark since Monday. City leaders have warned them that it could still be days before everyone's power is restored.

Many residents said they were getting sick because it is so cold and wet. Temperatures are dipping into the 30s at night.

More than 60 CenterPoint Energy linemen made the trip. They could be away from home for up to two weeks.
