A driver had to be rescued Thursday after he crashed his car into an 18-wheeler.

The man was traveling southbound on the North Freeway feeder when he ran a red light at Richey Road and slammed into an 18-wheeler around 1:30 a.m., police said. Investigators said the car got stuck after it went under the big rig.

According to officers, the driver was rescued and taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Police said he may have been intoxicated at the time of the crash.

An investigation is under way.
